What if rebel groups had infiltrated the federal government? In this nail-biting novel about politics, family, love and loss, we’re constantly forced to test the limits of power and trust.”

UNITED STATES, August 22, 2023/EINPresswire.com/ — A just-released enthralling novel reflecting the country’s current volatile political landscape, RUNNING WITH THE PRESIDENT (Redwood Digital Publishing) by August Martin Jr., takes readers on a heroic adventure across the U.S., dodging presidential assassins while tasting the fruit of forbidden love.

While there have been fictional stories and movies written about presidents, like Bill Clinton’s and James Patterson’s The President is Missing or the 1995 film The American President starring Annette Bening and Michael Douglas, RUNNING WITH THE PRESIDENT is special because the characters are flawed and relatable. “They make mistakes and often only have to make decisions when all the options are bad – and you have to choose one,” says August Martin Jr. “Like everyday life.”

This novel also has an amazing 32-year-old backstory. In 1991 August Martin Sr. started writing this story and finished it before his stroke in 1996. August Sr. was a dairy farmer all his life and at the age of 53 he became a renaissance man and learned to play the violin, wrote poetry, and began this novel. When he passed away in 2006, his dying wish was to have his book published. Fourteen years later, at the onset of COVID, his son, August Martin Jr., took up the challenge of finishing the novel at his mother’s bequest to help raise funds for the charity she founded with her late husband and to celebrate August Sr.’s legacy (The Oakdale Children’s Guardian Home).

RUNNING WITH THE PRESIDENT is a romantic political thriller that mirrors today’s headlines but still manages to deliver to readers an escape from reality with a deliciously devious plot. The story centers on Doris Machado, a recently widowed nurse living in New York City, who is called to action as a first responder in the aftermath of a massive terrorist attack.

Almost immediately, she stumbles onto a secret that tests the limits of her dedication as a nurse. Doris finds herself in over her head and uncertain of whom she can trust, including herself. Yet, determined to save her patient, she realizes she must risk her life by embarking on a daring cross-country run, evading the very government agencies that should be protecting her.

In a race against time, Doris, the First Lady, and the First Family put their lives on the line as they search for the truth while experiencing epic loss and shocking revelations that will leave readers asking themselves what would they do in this situation.

In a world polarized by political views, RUNNING WITH THE PRESIDENT takes place in a world that most readers can relate to – living in the middle where everything isn’t black and white, left and right, or right and wrong. Because what the majority of readers really care about is the same – safety, family and that which truly unites us – love. RUNNING WITH THE PRESIDENT embraces these themes boldly and shamelessly.

The book already has been receiving much praise.

“A page-turning thrill ride—taking twists and turns you never see coming in this tale of a dual love story and deception at the highest level—summer’s must-read book!” —Peggy Marie, Hollywood Critics Association
